Located in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, the Premier Cru Les Folatières is often regarded as the vineyard that most truly embodies the character of the appellation. Moreover, Les Folatières made by a top producer becomes almost indistinguishable from a Grand Cru at the peak of its maturity. Indeed, its altitude and subsoil composition closely resemble those of Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru. The wine offers depth and grace, born from the harmony between mineral tension and concentrated fruit.

A powerful energy swirls within—its vibrant dynamism unlike any other wine. Yet at this stage, Frédéric Cossard’s 2023 Les Folatières is still a raw diamond. It is our practice to believe that a wine is always at its best—whether young or mature—and that the right time to drink it is the moment you encounter it. However, remembering the superb finesse of the 2019 Puligny-Montrachet (village) we recently experienced, it’s hard not to conclude that this Folatières is a wine meant to be aged in the cellar for an appropriate period.
