Chanterêves - Tomoko & Guillaume

Tomoko Kuriyama and Guillaume Bott, the duo behind the maison de vin "Chanterêves," reached a milestone in 2019 with their 10th vintage. Over the years, this domaine and micro-négoce has continuously fine-tuned every detail of their craft, occasionally making drastic changes to their winemaking approach.

Today, early vintages like 2010 through 2013 have proven the wines' aging potential and authenticity. Meanwhile, the 2014 and 2015 vintages more clearly aligned their direction with the natural wine movement (Or rather, it might be more accurate to say that they have helped shape the era themselves), and they expanded their lineup from 2016 to 2018 to include "domaine" wines. Blessed by favorable weather, the 2019 vintage stands as a brilliant culmination of their decade-long experience. Starting with the 2020 vintage, Chanterêves introduced a renewed label design, signaling their entry into a new decade with fresh determination.

Above all, when discussing Chanterêves today, Aligoté is absolutely indispensable. "Bourgogne Aligoté Les Chagniots 2017" was the very first domaine wine produced by Chanterêves. Since then, they have expanded their vineyards, and from 2020 onward, they have been crafting five distinct cuvées, each highlighting a specific lieu-dit. Today, their reputation is such that they are considered among the very finest Aligoté producers in Burgundy.

They work closely with growers to obtain ideal grapes—often working in the vineyards themselves—with a strong preference for organically farmed fruit. Winemaking is kept as natural and non-interventional as possible. Fermented with indigenous yeasts, no new oak barrels are used, leaving the wine free of any gimmicks or artificial "makeup." These exceptional natural wines are built on the high quality of the grapes and a dedicated artisanal spirit backed by sophisticated skills.
