B391 DOMAINE DE CHASSORNEY (AURELIEN VERDET) BOURGOGNE ROUGE EN CARRAN 2023 1500ml

Our favourite special cuvée since the time of Frédéric Cossard is this En Carran, made from Pinot Noir sourced from a tiny parcel in Saint-Romain. Production exclusively in magnum size has been continued by Aurélien Verdet as well. It exhibits the expected delicate yet deeply flavourful style, but the well-ripened 2023 vintage prominently features nuances of strawberry jam (or rather, it is exactly that), making it enjoyable right from the moment it is opened.

It is a truly pleasant wine to drink, and although it goes down smoothly, the magnum size means there is plenty, so you can drink freely without being stingy. That said, it is not a wine for gulping. This astonishingly high-quality AC Bourgogne Pinot Noir is not cheap, but its price is by no means ridiculous.
