B200 LA FERME DE LA SANSONNIERE VdF COTEAU DU HOUET 2020 750ml
The cuvée revived with the 2019 vintage is Coteau du Houet. It was originally released under the AOC Bonnezeaux. Following the replanting of the vineyard, production as a single-vineyard wine was interrupted, and until 2018 the fruit was blended into La Lune. In 2019, it was once again bottled separately under the name Coteau du Houet.
While Bonnezeaux is typically associated with sweet wines made from botrytized grapes, Sansonnière’s Coteau du Houet shows a more restrained expression of sweetness. From 2020 through 2021, the style appears to be evolving toward an even drier profile. This shift coincides with the transition in winemaking from Mark Angéli to his son Martial, and may reflect the latter’s preference for drier wines.
The wine is dense yet supple, with a fine sense of grip and an impression of near-perfect balance. No SO₂ is added. Production of the 2020 vintage was limited to 684 bottles.
