The label features only a large “H,” which stands for the initial of “Hernla.” “Hernla” is the name of an excellent lieu-dit located within Grand Cru Pfersigberg, one of Alsace’s top grand cru sites, in the village of Eguisheim. It is an exceptionally rich soil composed of marl and limestone. This gives the wine a powerful structure and a long, profound mineral finish. It is concentrated with vibrant acidity, abundant umami, and the striking minerality characteristic of a grand cru site. Riesling H 2016 is made from Hernla with small portion of Riesling from Fuchsloch.
