Like Carignan, the Mourvèdre grape variety is generally blended with other grape varieties to create balance, but Frédéric Cossard seems to be looking at something different. He used 100% of this unique grape variety to bring out the beauty of Mourvèdre that no one had noticed before. Although it has considerable concentration, its smooth, rounded texture and refined acidity make it a wonderfully lively and finely detailed wine.

Frédéric Cossard is a top producer in Burgundy, yet he is completely free of stubbornness or pretentiousness. If he thinks it's good, he will unhesitatingly source grapes from other regions, creating remarkable wines with incredible sensibility and technique. This is something that other producers in Burgundy rarely do.
