Bartolo Mascarello Langhe Nebbiolo is a beautifully crafted expression of Nebbiolo that captures the true essence and philosophy of this legendary estate. Sourced entirely from the winery’s younger vines planted in their world-famous, top-tier Barolo crus—such as Cannubi and San Lorenzo—this wine receives the exact same artisanal care and traditional long aging in large Slavonian oak casks as their flagship Barolo.

It offers a brilliant alternative to their iconic Barolo, showcasing vibrant red fruit, elegant floral aromas of rose petals, and refined tannins. It delivers the complexity and aristocratic structure of a great Nebbiolo, but with an approachable freshness that allows it to be enjoyed much earlier. Of course, this wine has great ageing potential at the same time. A true insider's gem for any Piedmont wine lover.

Wines are fermented in concrete vats and vinified in botti (large, old barrels made of traditional oak and chestnut) without modern temperature control systems, and they never use barriques. 

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, international and Italian wine journalism began to criticize traditional Barolos, instead promoting modern single-vineyard wines that featured dark colors and vanilla-coffee flavors derived from aging in new barriques. Bartolo Mascarello never wavered, enthusiastically defending the old traditions of Barolo making.

Today, Bartolo's daughter, Maria Teresa, runs the winery, faithfully preserving her father’s legendary traditional methods.
