“Summer Tide”—promises an exceptional drinking experience. As you may know, Abekan pairs beautifully with sushi and sashimi. As noted in small print on the label, it also goes particularly well with wasabi and other condiments. Indeed, spices and herbs such as wasabi, pepper, chili flakes, sanshō, green onion, and myōga enhance the sake’s crisp finish, adding both depth and a refreshing lift.

This season's Summer Tide features a label design created by Shiogama-based artist Oda Yūji. Depicted in watercolor are the sea of Shiogama seen through the glass, fireworks reminiscent of the Minato Festival, and goldfish swimming gracefully. The soft color palette and use of blank space evoke the gentle atmosphere of summer in this port town.

The name has also changed slightly—from “Abekan” to “Shiogama Abekan”—highlighting its stronger connection to the local area. And while we call it “Goldfish,” you won’t find the word “Goldfish” anywhere on the bottle. Its actual name is “Summer Tide.”
