Château Latour à Pomerol, which draws its name from the tower that adorns this charming château, was acquired in 1917 by Mme Loubat—who also famously owned Château Pétrus. Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix has farmed the vineyard since 1962. The vineyard is characterized by the diversity of its soils, which brings complexity and harmony to the wine: gravel and clay for a marvelous parcel next to the church of Pomerol, and loam surrounding the château. Leaf-thinning and green-harvesting to ensure optimal grape maturity, followed by a selective manual harvest. The 2022 Latour à Pomerol wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, red berries, licorice and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a sweet core of fruit, polished tannins and a ripe but lively profile, this is a fine effort. RP91-94
