AOC Savennières Roche-aux-Moines

Savennières Roche-aux-Moines became an independent Appellation Contrôlée in 2011, separating it from the broader Savennières appellation. It stands as one of the smallest yet most prestigious appellations in the Loire Valley, with approximately 33–35 hectares under its strict designation. The terroir is shared among a small group of around 12 to 15 dedicated producers. The strict appellation rules are designed to guarantee exceptional quality, notably banning chemical herbicides, mandating manual harvesting, and capping the maximum yield at an exceptionally low 30 hl/ha to ensure unmatched concentration.
