In appellations such as Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny, however, he produces classic wines that remain faithful to the character of the terroir and bring out its uniqueness to the fullest. (Even here, he uses egg-shaped cement tanks for élevage, of course to avoid masking the flavour of Pinot Noir with oak.
